First-rate service

An ode to Public Service Day:

Without them there’d be no gas,

running water or green park grass,

household waste would pile up high

whilst chip pan fires reach the sky,

criminals would get away,

soldiers AWOL ever day,

library shelves empty and bare,

care homes lacking vital care,

hospitals close, power goes down,

buses missing from every town,

so never should they be overlooked,

for without them we’d be truly… er… screwed.
