Anyone else feeling fully autumnal!? The leaves are starting to turn and the jumpers have come out of storages and the coffee is starting to change flavor. I’m looking at you PSL.

International Coffee Day

Whether you favor espresso, americanos, lattes, or cappuccinos; iced, decaf, instant, or filter – Coffee Day is the day to savor and appreciate your beverage. Personally, I love anything with nutmeg or chocolate undertones to it. Since working from home I have the extra time to take when making my morning coffee.

I should get some coffee stencils.

It’s actually a really nice meditative process in making a cup of coffee. Just taking the time to do each step and being in the moment rather then rushing around trying to get everything done half way. I know that is a luxury but if you have it embrace it.

Noodle Day

The steam rising from a bowl of noodle soup is a thing of magic, with rich aromas and the promise of a deliciously warmed belly. There is something really comforting about noodles and they can be used in so many different ways as well. It really is one of my go to foods for when I am not feeling well.

Nothing like a good plate of noodles.

You can use them in so many different ways and they are so versatile my fave way has to be in a dashi soup. It’s so comforting and snug to have this soup and really for this time of year what better way could there be to get warm.

World Post Day

Can you remember the last time you sent a letter? Or maybe a package that wasn’t returning an item. This year in particular the postal service in all shapes and sizes has been busier then ever and World Post Day is just very small way to give thanks to the services that they provide.

So many packages!

If you have a local mailman who delivers mail to your house, thank them for their services. Talk about which mailing service you trust the most, talk to people about what people in the postal services do for a living, and share this information with everyone you know.

Ada Lovelace Day

Are you familiar with the name Ada Lovelace? If you’re not, this is a name that is definitely worth knowing! If you are, you will know exactly why she deserves a day of her own! She continues to be underrated and since learning about her a few years ago still continues to be my favorite person in history.

Non of this would exist!

Although overshadowed by Babbage and he had sketched out programs before, Lovelace’s were the most elaborate and complete, and the first to be published; so she is often referred to as “the first computer programmer”. And she was decades ahead of her time!

World Food Day

It’s something that a lot of us take for granted. This year I tried my hand a growing my own. While I had some successes I had failures as well. I very much enjoyed growing my own vegetables and will be doing it again next year, the garlic is already in the ground, I can’t help but appreciate the time and effort that people put into growing enough to feed themselves and their families around the world.

Neat little rows.

I am very lucky to have a garden and the space that I have to grow my own food at my own luxury and I am in awe of the people that are able to food in much harsher environments and feed not only themselves but sometimes an entire village! I am trying to take food less for granted and be grateful for what I have.

Evaluate Your Life Day

The time comes a time in every life where we have to take stock, a reckoning of the things we’ve done, the progress we’ve made, and the path we’re on. There have been a lot of highs and lows this year so far but that doesn’t mean that you should give up on your goals. There is still time to recalibrate and refocus on what you want to get done.

I took up water colouring

If you have learned a new skill of honed in one that you have loved all your life maybe it’s time to start doubling down on making that dream a reality and changing your path in life. I decided to try my hand at water coloring and I love it! but I want to do more of it.

Apple Day

Braeburn, Discovery, Red Jonagold, a million varieties with a million evocative names, and each one more delicious than the last. My personal favorite apple is and Empire, crunchy and sweet. However, My little apple tree provided me with two little apples. I manage to get a photo of one still on the branch.

Grow little apple.

They did get turned into a little bit of apple sauce to go with a pork joint but there is so much that you can do with apples and it really is up to you! What do you do with your apples, savory or sweet? I would be happy with either to be honest.

International Artists Day

Art has been an important part of the human experience for time out of mind, the first records of the world are not written in books, but are captured in paintings, sculptures, and music that helps to paint a picture of world lost to the past. Though I don’t record the past other then my own I love to celebrate Artists say in my own little way.

I cracked open the watercolors

There is nothing more relaxing for me than getting out the watercolor paints and getting to work on a new painting and figuring out what my little houses are going to look like. I love seeing how they have been evolving over the year.

Pumpkin Day

What better way is there to celebrate Pumpkin day then to get your hands on some! I have had a terrible time trying to get my hands on one, however, I was lucky enough on a chance shop trip to find three! I did this decoration last year and loved it! This year however I bit a bit more over board.

I ordered some Posca paint pens and I went to town on the decoration – and I love how they turned out. I will definitely be doing this again next year. I may also invest in some more Posca pens and get a larger pumpkin. I may even have a go at carving next year!
