If like me you love books. I have quite a few that are on my shelf and in my Kindle library that I have yet to read. But I still don’t know what to read next. A lot of this comes down to the mood that I am in. I tend to bounce around a few genres of books. What I do find difficult is reading too much of one genre. So, I have multiple lists of series of books to go between. I’m going to share with you my sets of books that I would like to get finished by the end of this year, fingers crossed.
I love a good fantasy book. Sword and sorcery have always appealed to me and one series of books have been mocking me from my shelf. That is the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. Now, my husband has read these and loves them, he will read anything that Brandon puts out. I, however, have tried to read the first of this series a few times and have yet to break the back of it. One day *shakes fist* I will finish this series.
The other series of books that I would like to finish by the end of this year, I should really get a move on, is the Nightside books. These are by Simon R Green, With the main character of John Taylor there are some amazing concepts in these books, or so I have been told, again husband has read these and loved them. I really enjoyed the first one Into the Nightside but I just never picked up the others, not entirly sure why. Check them out and thank the husband later.
I possibly love sci-fi more then fantasy. I am a tech geek I love technology and the way that it is developing. The series of books that I have in this genre is a series of books that kinda broke me when I read the first few and you will know what I mean if you have read these. The author Terry Schott, The Game Is Life series. Oh, you have read this, the end of Brandon Interlude, yeah that broke me, did not see it coming at all, that Terry. I LOVE these books and I really want to know what happens to Drew at the end of these. So, when I need to scratch that sci-fi itch theses are the books that I will be going to.
The other sci-fi series that I would quite like to finish is the Foundation series by Issac Asimov. One of the greatest sci-fi writers, in my opinion. I lucked out when I got these as I paid £5 for the whole series of books. Yes they are a little bit banged up, but, isn’t that why we love books. I must warn though if you are not used to old sci-fi then prepare yourself as it can be difficult at times.
Bet you didn’t see that coming. Have to have this in the mix as the other two are, at times, a bit heavy. So in this, I have an author that I have in the past year fell in love with, Philippa Gregory. In the UK we tend to have History lessons at school cover either The War (pick one) or the Tudors. Oh the Tudors, Philippa has a great way of combining just enough history for you to know where in the historical timeline you are. And just enough fiction to keep you entertained. I also suggest reading it in timeline order as well, it will make the most sense from a chronological point of view.
So, that is my mammoth reading list. Not to mention the rest of the books sat on my shelf waiting to be read. What will you be reading today? And what will you be reading next? Let me know in the comments below and Happy Read a Book Day!
