Additional software

Our website runs on the open-source content management system, WordPress. Some of our website functionality relies on ‘plugins’ which integrate with WordPress to extend or alter its behaviour. Some of these may store or use your data, in the following ways.

Relevanssi

Our site search functionality is powered by the Relevanssi WordPress plugin. This improves our search results quality. When your search our website, we log your search query and the number of results found. This data is never shared. The search logs are stored for up to one year.

Nextend Social Login

Our user registration and login system are powered by the Nextend Social Login WordPress plugin. This allows users to create and access their accounts by authorizing our website via their preferred social network(s). When your register, log in, or connect your account with a social provider, we collect the following information data: your email address, name, social provider identifier, and an access token. The access token (an anonymised identifier) is shared with the social provider(s) in order to enable authenticated communication (e.g., to validate a login request), and a cookie is created to manage the login (and subsequent redirection) process. This data is kept until such time as your account is deleted.

Akismet

Our comments systems use the Akismet WordPress plugin. This helps us to identify and block spam comments. When you comment on our website, we collect your IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself). This is kept until you delete your comments. If you delete your account, your comments are anonymised (the username and avatar are removed, but the content is not altered).

WooCommerce

Our shop systems use the WooCommerce WordPress plugin. This helps us to manage products and to provide shopping cart functionality. While you visit our site, we’ll track:
  • Your IP address (and inferred location): we’ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping
  • Shipping address: we’ll ask you to enter this so we can, for instance, estimate shipping before you place an order, and dispatch your order
We’ll also use cookies to keep track of cart contents while you’re browsing our site. When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, and credit card/payment details. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:
  • Send you information about your account and order
  • Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
  • Improve our store offerings
We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for 5 years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses. We will also store comments or reviews if you choose to leave them.

Stripe

We accept payments through Stripe. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to Stripe, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information. Please see the Stripe Privacy Policy for more details.

Complianz

Our website uses the Complianz WordPress plugin. This helps us to manage our privacy, terms and legal policies, as well as powering our ‘cookie banners’. Complianz records information about your consent status, in relation to our cookie and privacy policies. For this functionality your IP address is anonymized and stored in our database. This service does not process any personally identifiable information, and does not share any data with the service provider. For more information, see the Complianz Privacy Statement.
