For more than 50 years, the United Arab Emirates, in the eastern end of the Arabian peninsula, has been enjoying its status as a united country.

You are invited to join as UAE National Day is celebrated on this day!

How to Celebrate UAE National Day

Take a look at a few of these fun ideas to get involved with celebrating UAE National Day:

Plan a Visit to UAE

Those who do not live in the United Arab Emirates might want to take this time to consider traveling to this fascinating and unique part of the world.

From the capital of Abu Dhabi to the commercial city of Dubai, the sites and experiences are amazing to behold.

But you can also head out to the wilder mountainous areas for some camel-trekking or take advantage of the world’s longest zipline!

There’s an unending list of things to enjoy on a visit to the UAE and of course UAE National Day might be a grand time to start planning a trip!

Display the UAE Colors

One simple way to show support and celebration on UAE National Day might be to hang the flag or display the colors of the flag in some way.

Decorate with red, white, green & black as a show of honor for this important event. Or, even better, put on a t-shirt with the UAE colors or flag to show support for this important day!

Try Some National Dishes

Although the UAE doesn’t have a particular national dish, there are a few different dishes that show up in the midst of this fascinating and unique culture. Khuzi, machboos and harees are all dishes that can be found in the emirates.

In honor of this day, perhaps it would be a good idea to gather the ingredients and try a hand at cooking these or some other traditional recipes and then share them with friends just for the fun of it!

Host a Gathering

One of the ways that people in the UAE would celebrate this event is by hosting a gathering of family and friends.

Cook up some of those national dishes you’ve been practicing and foster a sense of community by enjoying the day together!

History of UAE National Day

This day commemorates the anniversary of the agreement that was signed by the rulers of the six emirates to create a single, unified nation, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Brought to life on December 2, 1971, and later joined by Ras Al Khaimah in 1972, this day of independence and nationalization is an important one to celebrate.

Celebrations in the local area often include traditional costume, dance, music, poetry reading, food, and even falconry demonstrations.

Informal street parades and family meals are another way to get connected on this day.

For many locals, the display of the colors of the UAE flag – red, white, green and black, is an important part of showing support for this special event.
