Actress and singer Bella Thorne was born on October 8th, 1997, in Pembroke Pines, Florida, and her full given name is Annabella Avery Thorne. Due to her Cuban ancestry, Bella grew up speaking Spanish as a first language. She was also home-schooled and was diagnosed with dyslexia when she was young, which she fought hard to overcome.

Bella’s acting career began with an uncredited small role in the film Stuck on You (2003.) In 2006, she made her television debut in TV show Entourage, which sparked a series of appearances in other shows, such as a guest role The O.C., a recurring role in Dirty Sexy Money (2007-2008), and later a main role in series My Own Worst Enemy (2008) and web series Little Monk (2009.) In 2010, she had a four-episode run in HBO’s drama show Big Love.

In 2010, Bella was cast opposite Zendaya in Disney Channel’s upcoming sitcom, Shake It Up, turning into the breakthrough role for both young stars. To prepare for her role, which involved dancing and singing, Bella (with no previous experience) signed up for intensive dance lessons. The series ran for three seasons before its cancellation. During her time on the show, Bella also starred in a Disney Channel movie, Frenemies, with her Shake It Up co-star.

Bella’s next acting credits were in the 2014 comedy Blended, followed by Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014) and The DUFF (2015.) She also released an EP, Jersey, in 2014, with its single, “Call It Whatever,” making it to the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs top ten. In 2015, she appeared in the pilot episode of television series anthology Scream, and had a guest role in Disney’s K.C. Undercover.

In 2017, Bella was cast as the lead in Freeform’s drama series Famous in Love. She later appeared in black comedy film Assassination Nation, Netflix’s You Get Me, and remake of the Japanese film Midnight Sun, all released in 2018. Thorne competed in the third season of singing contest show The Masked Singer as “Swan,” but was eliminated in her second appearance. Since 2021, she stars in the musical drama series Paradise City, on Amazon Prime Video.

In addition to her acting and singing careers, Bella has also written a trilogy of Young Adult novels: Autumn Falls (2014), Autumn’s Kiss (2015) and Autumn’s Wish (2016.) In 2019, a book with her autobiographical poetry, called The Life of a Wannabe Mogul: Mental Disarray Vol. 1.
