Chris Pine's birthday
Chris Pine has become a modern icon and success story. Shying away from going into the family business, Chris always felt like he belonged on stage. And it is on stage where he made his home and went on to become one of the most famous faces today. From his early days performing Shakespeare at high school to becoming a huge Hollywood A-lister, starring in some of the biggest blockbuster movies ever made, here’s a little bit about the man who filled giant boots.
The Tale of an Early Thespian
Born August 26, 1980, Chris Pine comes from a family of lawyers, but that wasn’t him. From an early age, he knew he wanted to be an actor, like his grandmother, Anne Gwynne, known for westerns and horror movies of the 1940s. White at college, Pine became a member of the UC Berkeley theater department and began performing well-known yet challenging roles. These roles included characters from Shakespeare, and a role in a Caryl Churchill production at La Val’s Theater.
Most Notable Breakout Roles
Like many up-and-coming actors of the early 2000s, Pine began his mainstream career with bit-part roles in popular TV shows such as ER, CSI: Miami, and The Guardian. Yet it wasn’t until he starred alongside Lindsay Lohan in Just My Luck that Pine began to get noticed. From there, he landed major roles in numerous movies of moderate success, such as Blind Dating, Smokin’ Aces, and Bottle Shock. Yet Pine was catapulted to superstardom and fame for one starry role.
Going Where No Pine Had Gone Before
Star Trek is one of TV and Hollywood’s longest-running series. Spanning over 60 years, the shows and movies are iconic, and their actors are legendary. In 2009, Star Trek by JJ Abrams was released to critical acclaim and cemented Chris Pine as one of the hottest Hollywood actors to watch. Alongside Zachary Quinto, Eric Bana, and the legendary Leonard Nimoy, Pine took to this like a fish to the water as one of the most iconic characters ever created, one James T. Kirk.
Awards and Achievements
The success of Star Trek made Chris Pine one of the best-known actors today. As a result, Pine was nominated for many awards. He even won ShoWest’s Male Star of Tomorrow, as well as the Best Ensemble Cast Award from the Boston Society of Film Critics Awards. Outside of Star Trek, Pine also appeared in two hugely successful Wonder Woman movies, for which he received a Teen Choice Award for Choice Action Movie Actor.
Pine’s Continued Success
Since Star Trek and Wonder Woman, Chris has continued to work hard with all mediums. Video games, music videos, and even music production are part of his growing repertoire. Pine has worked with icons such as Paul McCartney, Emily Blunt, and Barbara Streisand on various projects related to his work in Hollywood. His success in all manner of entertainment makes Chris Pine one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood and definitely one to watch.
