Most people know him as the cheeky kid who stole our hearts in ‘Home Alone’. That’s right, it’s Macaulay Culkin! Rising to fame quickly at a young age, it’s no surprise there are lots of interesting facts to know about this Hollywood celebrity.

Early Life

Macaulay Culkin was born on August 26, 1980, in New York City. Born Cornelius Culkin and Patricia Brentrup, Macaulay got his instinct for acting from his father who was a stage actor in his youth.

Like many child stars, Culkin started his career on the stage, performing plays in theaters like the New York Philharmonic. This led him to movies and by the time he had turned eight years old, he had already been part of two major films.

It was due to this that he caught the eye of casting directors and got to join John Candy in the 1989 hit film, ‘Uncle Buck’. From there Macaulay’s career continued to see success, with him playing the leading role in 1990’s ‘Home Alone’, as Kevin McCallister.

Family

Macaulay met his wife-to-be at The Professional Children’s High School before dropping out during his senior year. The pair stayed friends and when they were both eighteen, they decided to wed. Unfortunately, they disagreed about their future together and things took a turn for the worse.

After two years of marriage they were divorced and went their separate ways. Later in his life, Culkin would spend nine years in a relationship with actor Mila Kunis.

Macaulay has six siblings and he isn’t the only actor in the family, as two of his brothers, Kieran and Rory, are also successful actors. Kieran played Kevin’s cousin in Home Alone and Rory played the young Richie in Richie Rich. The family resemblance is undeniable in all three.

Macaulay and his father, Kit Culkin, are no longer on speaking terms, as, during Macaulay’s early career, his father took on the role of manager and this stretched their relationship. At the height of his success, Macaulay’s mother entered into a grueling custody battle over concerns for Macaulay’s welfare.

Life

In 2004, Culkin was a passenger in a car that was stopped for speeding. When searching the vehicle, officers found illegal substances and Macaulay was arrested on suspicion of possession. He later pleaded guilty to the charges, and was given a one year deferred jail sentence and ordered to pay $300 in costs.

Culkin was also friends with pop star Michael Jackson since meeting one another at a Broadway show. They were introduced to each other by Donald Trump, who also had a small part in ‘Home Alone 2’. Macaulay would go on to star in the music video for Michael Jackson’s hit, ‘Black and White’. Culkin is godfather to both of Michael’s children, Prince and Paris Jackson, and they are reported to have a good friendship.
