High fives for awareness

19th Apr, 2012 | Posted by in Blog

I… really… need to read what an occasion is about before I start blogging about it.

Today is High Five Day, so I took the above photo of me giving my mam a high five (it’s not easy with a touch screen phone – it took ages to tap the button properly with my thumb). However, whilst uploading the image, I realised that today is about raising awareness of cancer through high fives. Ah.

Soooooo… above is my high five, and Throat wrecked? Get it checked!┬áis a campaign that I worked on a few months ago to spread the word of throat cancer symptoms and the actions you should take if you notice them.

Some health messages go by the three-week rule (although obviously some are far more urgent), and this one is the same – if you have a croaky voice for three weeks or more, visit your doctor. Never think that you’re wasting their time, it’s always better to be safe than sorry, and that’s what your GP is there for.

If you, unlike me, planned to mark this day properly from the start, I hope it’s been a huge success! *high five*
