Fashion Day is a great time to head over to some local shops, or even some vintage stores, to try on the best in wide-leg jeans, sundresses, mini skirts or crop tops, depending on what the trends are at the moment. Enjoy what feels right and feel free to live out your own style and make your own fashion statement however you like.

For more than a century, fashion magazines have been providing women and men with the information they want to keep up with the current fashion trends. Often beginning with clothing fashion and moving into what’s hot in accessories, makeup and more, fashion magazines keep people up to date with what is chic and stylish all over the world.

History of Fashion Day

The idea of style and fashion has been around for centuries. Perhaps even when humans first began to wear clothes, the cave women would see who had the nicest-looking fur pelt! From Ancient Rome to Ancient Egypt, from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, fashion and dress have been a vital part of high society.

Of course, royal courts in Europe were known for their high fashion influences, where the very wealthy and important people could show off their clothing made from luxurious fabrics, often adorned with exquisite laces or even jewels.

When the first sewing machine was invented in 1790, this changed the way that fashion was created. It made fashion more affordable and accessible to the common person. By 1826, Englishman Charles Frederick Worth had founded his House of Worth in Paris, effectively becoming the first modern fashion designer in the world.

The idea that people would wear fashion to express their own personal style, instead of simply their status, began developing in the mid-1800s. It was around this time that design houses began searching for artists that would help them create unique patterns for the garments they made.

For many people, clothes started to become a “wordless communication” that helped to inform and relate with others. Paris would quickly become the place where some of the best fashion houses in the world would develop. Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent and many other luxury fashion brands made their way in this hotbed of fashion.

The industrial revolution brought about a way for fashion to move even more rapidly, and the advent of the internet has moved things along even more quickly into the modern day.

Fashion Day’s first occurrence was in 2016, seemingly founded by a grass-roots movement through social media. Some people have set out to make Fashion Day a public revolt against the fashion houses and corporations that drive fashion and, instead, allowing individuals to express themselves in whatever fashionable days they might like.

Since its inception, Fashion Day has caught on and provided women and men, boys and girls with a fun way to celebrate their unique styles and show off their own ideas of what fashion means to them!
