Deck the Everything Day
Deck the Everything Day brings a burst of joy just when the year starts to feel heavy. It’s a chance to toss aside the “too soon” rule and lean into holiday cheer without holding back.
People pull out twinkly lights, toss garland across every surface, and dress up their homes however they please. Laughter bubbles up as families dig through storage bins and find old favorites.
There’s no pressure—just the simple pleasure of doing something fun together.
What makes this day special isn’t just the early decorating. It’s the way it lifts spirits at a time when many folks need a boost.
Kristin Chenoweth, a proud early decorator herself, helped spark the idea with HomeGoods.
Their pop-up event turned heads with oversized candy canes and a life-sized gingerbread house.
But beyond the fun, the heart of it all is warmth, comfort, and sharing something bright with others, whether it’s through a glowing window or a small wreath on the door.

History of Deck the Everything Day
Deck the Everything Day began in 2024 as a cheerful way to welcome holiday decorating earlier than usual. HomeGoods launched it after hearing from people who felt judged for putting up decorations too soon.
The idea was simple: if spreading joy through lights, garlands, and snow globes makes someone happy, why wait? To help bring the idea to life, HomeGoods partnered with actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth.
She proudly calls herself an early decorator and became the face of the celebration.
On the first Deck the Everything Day, HomeGoods stores opened an hour early across the country. This let people shop in peace and find seasonal treasures before the rush.
A special event in New York’s Madison Square Park featured a giant gingerbread house, carolers, and a chance to meet Chenoweth.
The whole event encouraged people to decorate boldly, share their spaces online, and enjoy the warmth that festive touches bring.
What started as a simple idea quickly turned into something bigger. The day now inspires people to express themselves, make their homes cozy, and lift spirits without apology.
It’s not just about décor—it’s about letting joy take the lead, no matter what the calendar says.
