History of Anti Obesity Day

Anti-Obesity Day began in 2001. An Indian wellness company called VLCC started the movement. Vandana Luthra, the company’s founder, launched it to raise public awareness about the growing obesity problem.

The campaign focused on helping people make healthier lifestyle choices through better food habits and regular activity. Doctors, fitness experts, and nutritionists joined the effort.

They worked together to offer practical advice and support to those who needed it.

The initiative didn’t stay small. Over the years, it grew across India and reached nearby countries as well. Events like health checks, counseling sessions, and fitness workshops became part of the campaign.

These efforts made it easier for people to understand how obesity affects the body and mind. It also helped break some of the social stigma tied to weight.

VLCC’s goal wasn’t just to talk about problems. The team wanted to guide people toward solutions they could follow in everyday life. That’s why the campaign focused on education and simple tools.

It reminded people that change doesn’t have to be drastic to matter. With strong community support and practical advice, Anti-Obesity Day became more than a campaign.

It turned into a movement that encourages better living, one small step at a time.
